It was snowing during one of the old Kinja tomato sauce recipes. We may have an ice storm coming on Monday for Mardi Gras. All pics after the break are from the old version. I didn't have any vodka so that is missing in this one as well.
1-2 pounds ground beef.
1 package, about 1 lb., hot Italian sausage.
2 onions, 2 stalks celery, half a bell pepper, 4 cloves garlic. Chopped.
1 little bottle of red wine. Or whatever is on hand. Tomatoes need alcohol.
1 healthy shot of vodka.
2 cans diced tomato.
3 cans tomato sauce. This amount depends on how much meat, etc., it varies.
Tablespoon or two of tomato paste from tube.
Anchovy paste from tube. Excellent thing to have around for flavor enhancement.
Cayenne, black pepper, bay leaf, oregano, basil, pinch thyme, and salt. To taste as they say, those who don’t measure.
