Sandwich of the Day: Ham and Salami Sliders

(Header image from recipe below.)

These were very good. There was no bread at the grocery so I got some Hawaiian slider buns. Cut both the ham and salami pieces into quarters. Layered those triangular pieces on three buns. I would put some provolone on there if I had thought of it for a real Italian slider. Zapp's No Salt chips. Lemonade. Enjoying TV and AC while it lasts.

The Golden Horn Meets Hurricane Ida

Observation Deck has fresh content on the schedule but this is going to be very, very bad and I may be gone for weeks. The Golden Horn only has wine and breakfast on the schedule currently. I may add a few more things.

The Legend of Last Island

In August of 1856, a strong hurricane hit the coast of Louisiana and killed at least 200 people. Last Island was completely destroyed. The romantic story was that people were dancing and drinking through the night in advance of the storm.

Track of Gustav to show where Last Island was on the coast.

In July 2021 I have been reducing the amount of stuff I have in the freezer, which is normally pretty full of prepared food, so I won't lose much if the power goes out for an extended time. Last year hurricane season was a nightmare. Every other week we had another one coming right at us.
