Several of the recent cinematography posts, including this one, are all new to blogspot. I said a long while back I would eventually get all the Kinja ones done. Mostly done. I love to see these old black and white movies on Blu-ray. I think black and white looks even better than color in HD. Tremendous detail. George E. Diskant another of the top in film noir.

Again highlighting the George E. Diskant cinematography. A great train film and noir. Directed by Richard Fleischer. Marie Windsor is the woman in danger. Remade by Peter Hyams with Gene Hackman and Anne Archer. Also M. Emmet Walsh and J.T. Walsh. Works pretty well as a train double feature.

Directed by Nicholas Ray. Farley Granger. George E. Diskant cinematography. I saw Keechie the other night on a Perry Mason on Me-TV. A few years ago I had one of the great moments of my movie watching life when I watched this and Robert Altman's Thieves Like Us for the first time on back to back nights. That one with Keith Carradine and Shelley Duvall. I have the Criterion Blu-ray of They Live by Night. Recommended.
