Gilbert and Frank are joined by animation historian/author Jerry Beck ("The 50 Greatest Cartoons," "The Hanna-Barbera Treasury") and TV host/presenter Bill Leff (Me-TV's "Toon In with Me") for a nostalgic look back at the kiddie show hosts of their youth and the glory days of Saturday morning television ("Looney Tunes," "The Flintstones," "Jonny Quest," "The Jetsons," "Underdog," "Wacky Races," etc.) Also, Daffy Duck meets Jack Benny, Gomer Pyle "inspires" Milton the Monster, Jackie Gleason (almost) sues Hanna-Barbera and "Batmania" inspires a wave of super-knockoffs. PLUS: The genius of Jay Ward! The art of Dave and Max Fleischer! The Three Stooges go robonic! Ronald Colman joins the Beatles? Jerry hangs with Chuck Jones and Friz Freleng! And the boys praise the talents of Mel Blanc, Daws Butler, Paul Frees and Paul Winchell!

Cartoons tag at The Golden Horn is currently at 80. Breakfast replaced cartoons this past year for a break.
Found this snapshot of the Louisiana food series on Kinja. This was what the bottom of the page looked like. The only ones I haven't recreated here are Crawfish Pie and Courtbouillon. I would kill for crawfish pie right now.

25 entries now at the Cooking With Wu tag. I wanted to highlight some of my favorite Louisiana recipes and a few others I created and perfected myself. Includes: Gumbo, Red Beans, White Beans, Crawfish Etouffee, Chili, and the header is Spicy Three Bean Soup that I came up with during Covid. With pics and step by step instructions.

Mamou, Louisiana. Traditional Cajun Mardi Gras chasing chickens on horseback. These guys were all wasted drunk at 10 a.m. At one point the chicken ran right between my legs and I thought I was going to be killed. More at Golden Horn link below:

I came across this Gottlieb Collection at the Library of Congress the other day but didn't get into it till now. This will be a new music series for The Golden Horn because they are great. The previous one used here was a street photo at night in New York.

Season four, episode 9. Dec. 8, 1983. Gretchen Corbett. Magnum hears the voice of a DJ from Vietnam on the radio. When I was a bartender in the early 90s, KLSU had The Hardcore Show late on Friday nights, hosted by Margaret C. Someone I worked with knew her and knew I was a fan and gave me one of her playlists for my birthday. I still have it somewhere. It is also Higgie Baby's birthday in this episode and Magnum is building something but Higgins can't figure out what it is.

Oh, hey, sorry, Sammy. Strictly theory.

From Peter Lovesey's book The Tooth Tattoo. Murder in a string quartet.
“Beethoven, wasn’t it?” Diamond ventured.
Anthony was supposed to get the idea that Diamond was a fellow lover of music. He didn’t show a glimmer of appreciation.
“I couldn’t place the piece,” Diamond added, which was true. He was about as capable of placing a piece of Beethoven as he was of riding a Derby winner. “Do you mind telling me what it was?”
Opus 59, Number 3,” Anthony said.
“Silly me. I’m a duffer with numbers.”
“In C major.”
“C major.” Diamond raised his thumb as if all had been made clear. “Any particular part?”
“The fugue.”
“And to me it sounded just as a fugue should.”
“It was too fast.”
“A shade quick, I’ll give you.”

Paul Dooley in Breaking Away is one of the top three performances I have ever seen. The scene where he is sitting in a car in the used car lot, listening to the race on the radio and eating pizza, is one of the great moments in the movies for me. I cry every time at that point because he is so excited.
James Hong I just saw again the other night in Blade Runner. So many credits and wonderful moments it would take me all day to list them. Big Trouble in Little China is one of my favorite movies. Seen here with Jack Nicholson in Chinatown.
A man gradually transforms from a person wearing a sandwich sign and standing beside a barrel into a sausage sandwich next to a jar of German mustard.

I'm up, I'm up. What old DVD is coming up next? Still loving the big new TV. Old pic too, sometimes now I make iced coffee without blending it when I'm lazy. Coffee ice cubes, cold coffee, French vanilla fancy creamer, shot of chocolate syrup.
Directed by James Fargo. Clint Eastwood. Moving on. The Kelly's Heroes DVD froze up halfway through. I have some Lemon Pledge around here somewhere that will sometimes fix scratches. Dirty Harry and Magnum Force DVDs have already been covered here. Tyne Daly as Harry's new partner.

Directed by Brian G. Hutton. Clint Eastwood. No negative waves. I just had to troubleshoot separate issues on both the upstairs and downstairs TVs and figured both out in less than five minutes. That never happens. This is the double DVD flip disc with The Dirty Dozen. One of my favorite war movies. That is because it is actually more of a heist film. Nazi gold. Telly Savalas as Big Joe, Don Rickles as Crapgame, Carroll O'Connor, Donald Sutherland as Oddball, Harry Dean Stanton, Stuart Margolin as Little Joe, Gavin MacLeod. Eastwood has said the original cut was better but it is still a pretty long movie.
