Sandwich of the Day: The Cuban

The Reuben and The Cuban were the first two sandwiches I did in the Kinja summer sandwich series. I eventually ate an authentic Cuban a couple of times. Good sandwich. Still no Reuben, but I know where to get one. Tom Hanks was spotted at the place mentioned below when he was in town.

I finally had a Cuban but it wasn’t totally authentic because it used BBQ pork. Still good. Traditionally with ham, Swiss cheese, roast pork, pickles, and mustard. In Tampa they add salami. It is then pressed which is key, along with having the good bread.

along with having the good bread.

Key to all good sandwiches.

I’m okay with the Cuban, but in general I still don’t like the way a pickle will assert itself and dominate everything else as soon as you bite into it. “Oh! Pickle there...”
