AVC: Early in your TV career, you starred in two short-lived series, one of which—No Soap, Radio—is, even now, one of the oddest things I’ve ever seen on primetime.SG: I know. It’s strange! Mort Lachman was the producer of No Soap and wanted to just go way outside the box. Way outside the planet! [Laughs.] So I was along for the ride. But it actually was a really good time. I’d just finished Diner, and my agents at the time had no belief in Diner, or anything. They just said, “You’ve got to keep working.” So I jumped on and started doing that.
