George Segal as Sam Spade Jr. Maltese Falcon parody. Long unavailable. Found on Youtube. Lionel Stander. I always like the hard-boiled parodies and detective comedies.

Directed by John Huston. Humphrey Bogart. Dashiell Hammett book. I finally read the book first time several years ago. A sequel of sorts came on the radio, Suspense, 1948, The Khandi Tooth Caper. It is the great detective movie. I have the DVD but am taking the opportunity to watch it in HD.

RIP Charles Grodin

My mother’s favorite comedy was Midnight Run but she didn’t like all the cursing & for years searched in vain for a copy of the movie that had the curses removed & now I hope Charles Grodin is with her in heaven explaining to her that they didn’t sell those
One of the best. One of my favorites. He made everything he was in better. I would strongly recommend The Heartbreak Kid if you haven't seen that one. Brutally funny. He was 86.

Emmy-winning TV host, author and producer (and native New Yorker) Al Roker joins Gilbert and Frank for a trip down memory lane and a fun, freewheeling conversation about local kiddie show hosts, the lost art of ventriloquism, the complicated genius of Charles M. Schulz and Al's new book "You Look So Much Better in Person." Also, Fred Flintstone enjoys a smoke, Red Buttons leads a double life, Willard Scott becomes the original Ronald McDonald and Gilbert and Al co-star in "Sharknado 5: Global Swarming." PLUS: Willie Tyler & Lester! "The Dick Tracy Show"! "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World"! Saluting Yaphet Kotto! Frank shares his favorite roast joke! And Al and Gilbert cover the hits of Soupy Sales!
Directed by Ted Kotcheff. Sylvester Stallone. David Morell book. I have this DVD and have the book. Brian Dennehy, Richard Crenna, Jack Starrett, David Caruso. Excellent action film. Recommended.

Harry O recently showed up on Youtube. Good detective show. David Janssen. Not a rare show on the internet, because I watched three episodes a couple of summers ago, and one of them the Kurt Russell ep. Some shows come and go a lot over the years. Playing that one now on Youtube. Same channel has a number of other excellent 70s cop/detective series. Too many, in fact, and I suspect it will soon be deleted. Ep. is "Double Jeopardy." #19 of season one. First aired February 13, 1975.

Midnight movie. Haven't seen this in a while. A long time ago on my personal Kinja page this-TV had an all-day Vincent Price/Poe marathon. Roger Corman. This was one of them. The last.

Note cat toy hanging off the butcher block. 14 year old Broken, the crippled cat, does a few minutes on that toy every day. And scratches that one leg, in his little ritual. All the crap that was on the unused dining room table is now on the work table. That table top thing was once part of several kitchen/food work stations.
I've actually found a particular X-Files or MST3K episode but if luck is against you you will never find it. The paperback boxes have increased since that time. Cardboard beer/soda flats are perfect for paperbacks.
Directed by Nicholas Ray. Humphrey Bogart. Film noir. Tomorrow night on the Movies! channel. I have this Criterion Blu-ray. Cinematography by Burnett Guffey. Noir guru Eddie Muller has this #1 in his Top 25 film noir list. Recommended.
