Old store Race St. Wharf, Phila.

  • Photo shows a street view, from the corner of Delaware and Race streets, of a brick building that was once a former salt warehouse, and the establishment of a fish merchant, and a sail maker. There is a man leaning against a lamppost on the corner, a horse harnessed to a wagon on the left, and several barrels on the sidewalk in front of "S.H. & H. Levin & Co. Fish, Cheese & Provisions" store and the "Wm. Neal Sail Maker" shop. A sign for "Buchanan & Edmunds Public Weighers" hangs on the side facing Race Street. The building was torn down in the early 1900s to make way for a new pumping station for the fire department.
