In Memoriam 2020

https://soundcloud.com/gilbertgottfried/in-memoriam-2020

Gilbert and Frank are again joined by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Michael H. Weber for a loving look back at some of the artists and performers who left the stage in 2020, including Carl Reiner, Kirk Douglas, Diana Rigg, Buck Henry, Regis Philbin and Olivia deHavilland. Also in this episode: Sean Connery improves an iconic line, Fred SIlverman makes TV history, Matty Simmons co-founds the National Lampoon and the world bids farewell to Mr. Creosote. PLUS: Burns and Schreiber! Stiller and Meara! The art of Mort Drucker! The genius of Fred Willard! And Gilbert and Frank salute a member of the ACP family!

Sandwich of the Day: Bologna

Eating a baloney sandwich and watching Get Smart reruns, I said I think I've been transported back to the 70s. They were out of hard salami. Also no cold fried chicken.

Deconstructing the Rat Pack on Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast

https://soundcloud.com/gilbertgottfried/deconstructing-the-rat-pack

Entertainment historian and bestselling author RICK LERTZMAN ("The Life and Times of Mickey Rooney") discusses his new book, "Deconstructing the Rat Pack: Joey, the Mob, and the Summit" and joins Gilbert and Frank for a fascinating conversation about the heyday of nightclubs, the glory days of Las Vegas and the cultural impact of Frank, Dean, Sammy, Joey and Peter. Also, Uncle Miltie whips it out (again), Sammy Davis blows through a fortune, Pat McCormick tanks "The Joey Bishop Show" and Jerry Lewis runs afoul of Sam "Momo" Giancana. PLUS: Sheldon Leonard! Louis Prima inspires Ol' Blue Eyes! Don Adams "borrows" from Bob Newhart! Rick hangs with Moe Howard (and Bud Abbott)! And the unknown reason behind Dean and Jerry's split?

Death Trip (1967)

Eurospy. Fourth Kommissar X. LSD angle. Hippie bar fight is a highlight. Found on Youtube. The bookmark IV collection has more Eurospy, along with spaghetti westerns. Few more Eurospy on bookmark IX current movies.

Tepepa (1969)

Orson Welles spaghetti western. Another title from Alex Cox. This was one of the better ones I watched when I was first looking for spaghettis. Also acclaimed. Welles behaved less than admirably on set, allegedly. Found on Youtube.

Black Jack (1968)

Added a bunch of spaghetti westerns to the bookmark collection (IV). On Kinja a few years ago I used a Best Of list by Alex Cox to see what was on Youtube. Almost all of them are available now. I saw this in that group when I found about 8-10 that I watched over a few days.

Joe Kidd (1972)

I've always had a soft spot for this one from TV airing as a kid, long before I knew it was an Elmore Leonard story. Botched in the producer's hands, apparently, as often happened to Mr. Leonard. Directed by John Sturges. Bruce Surtees cinematography. John Saxon. Don Stroud and Paul Koslo. Recommended.

Norman Lear on Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast

https://soundcloud.com/gilbertgottfried/norman-lear-encore

Gilbert and Frank celebrate the 50th anniversary of "All in the Family" with an ENCORE presentation of another classic episode, as legendary writer-producer-director NORMAN LEAR holds court on a variety of subjects, including the inscrutability of Dean Martin, the politics (and Jewishness) of Edward G. Robinson, the "inventiveness" of Mickey Rooney and the heroism of the Tuskegee Airmen. Also, Norman woos Frank Sinatra, praises John Amos, presents Jerry Lewis with a one-of-a-kind gift and remembers his dear friend Carroll O'Connor. PLUS: James Franciscus! Roscoe Lee Browne!

The Mystery of the Leaping Fish (1916)

Cocaine detective short with Douglas Fairbanks parodying Sherlock Holmes. Tod Browning was brought in as a writer after the original director was fired and the film was reshot. Coke Ennyday. 25 minutes long. Available on Youtube and Internet Archive, where I came across it while doing a detective search. I had seen that poster before.

O'Gradys

1986. I did a search the other day for any snack chips that haven't been covered here. Potato chips, tortilla chips, formed chips, etc. Found a few. Others are at the "Chips" tag.

Hamburger of the Day: Goodwood Grill

My mother brought me a birthday burger and fries since everything will be closed on Sunday. Good timing since I was cleaning all morning and starving. Cold too once I stopped moving.

Little Cigars (1973)

Little person gangster exploitation film from AIP. I have been looking for this movie for years after seeing it a long time ago on this-TV. It finally showed up on Youtube recently and I am saving it for my birthday on Sunday with some mind-altering chemicals. Angel Tompkins, Barbara Rhoades, Todd Susman. Frank Bonner appears briefly as a bellboy in a very early role. Billy Curtis, Jerry Maren, Frank Delfino, Felix Silla. It's really sleazy. I am so excited and if it gets deleted in the next three days I am going to cry. Radio spot below.

2021 Gumbo

Splashed hot roux on the palm of my hand and burnt the shit out of it. That's why we call it Cajun napalm. Roasted a big whole chicken yesterday on the Chicken Rocket and then deboned it and made stock. Day two turn that into chicken and andouille gumbo. Full recipe at the link.
